Abstract
Description
From the mid-nineteenth century onwards, universal fairs became globally significant events. Anthropology gradually gained prominence there, serving scientific and educational purposes. However, it also served as a justification for expansionist and racist policies. A Tehuelche group was invited to the Saint Louis Exhibition (United States) in 1904. This study will analyze how they were described by various sources and how they were transformed into stereotyped objects of mass consumption, which calls into question the educational and scientific character of the department.
