Description
La utilización del procedimiento tecnológico de tratamiento térmico por parte de grupos aborígenes en la producción de artefactos líticos estuvo originalmente registrada por etnógrafos y luego en contextos arqueológicos. Resultados de un programa experimental donde se consideraron dos casos de estudio de material lítico proveniente de las regiones Pampeana y Patagónica son presentados y discutidos. Tanto las alteraciones macroscópicas como microscópicas fueron estudiadas utilizando métodos y técnicas de la Geología. Todos los resultados son utilizados para evaluar la presencia de la técnica de Tratamiento Térmico en conjuntos arqueológicos de Pampa-Patagonia.
The aboriginal use of various heat treatment techniques in the production of stones tools was originally recorded by ethnographers and then in archaeological contexts. Experimental results from two case studies on lithic material from the Pampean and Patagonian regions are discussed. Both macroscopic and microscopic alterations were explored, microscopic geological techniques were applied. Results from several experiments are used to evaluate the occurrence of heat treatment techniques in assemblages from Pampa-Patagonia.
