| dc.description | En este trabajo se analizan y transcriben una Carta y un Memorial de Martín de Ledesma Valderrama escrito en 1631 en el contexto del abandono de la ciudad de Santiago de Guadalcázar, fundada por él en 1625 en el Chaco. Estos documentos inéditos se refieren a las ventajas de la fundación de la ciudad y a las acciones para la reducción de las poblaciones indígenas circundantes. También, se registran poblaciones churumatas e “ingas del Cuzco” en los valles del oriente de la cordillera de los chichas y se relatan las causas que llevaron a la huida del Chaco. Se interpretan estas fuentes en diálogo con el corpus documental ya conocido, con la cartografía del siglo XVII y con la arqueología. A partir de este enfoque relacional, se presentan nuevas interpretaciones sobre las tempranas y breves ocupaciones del Chaco. | |
| dc.description | This paper analyzes and transcribes a Letter and a Memorial of Martín de Ledesma Valderrama, written in 1631 in the context of the abandonment of the city of Santiago de Guadalcázar, founded by him in 1625 in the Chaco. These unpublished documents refer to the advantages of the foundation of the city and to the actions for the reducción (concentration) of the local native populations. Also, populations of churumatas and “ingas del Cuzco” are recorded in the eastern valleys of the mountain range of the chichas. The causes that led to the flight of the Chaco are presented as well. The interpretation of these documents is made in the light of and interacting with the known documental corpus, the cartography of the 17th Century and the archaeology. By using this relational approach, new interpretations about the early brief occupations of the Chaco are presented. | |
