| dc.description | El presente estudio comprende la clasificación organológica, los modos de construcción y ejecución y las circunstancias de uso de un particular idiófono de golpe directo utilizado hasta hoy por los Mbyá-guaraní del territorio argentino: el iwyra 'í. Se analiza también el marco mitológico y ritual que lo carga de sentido, lo que permite determinar que en ese instrumento perviven importantísimos elementos característicos de la vara-insignia que otrora distinguía a los líderes religiosos y políticos de ese grupo étnico con el que el autor ha trabajado en cinco campañas de terreno: febrero de 1985, octubre de 1987, noviembre de 1993, agosto-septiembre de 1995 y julioagosto de 1996. | |
| dc.description | The present study comprises the organological classification, the way a particular idiophon is built and executed and the circumstances ofits use. This percussion instrument, the iwyra'í, is played by beating directly on it and is still in use by the Mbyá-Guarani oftheArgentinean territory.
The mythological and ritualistic background that charges it with meaning is also analyzed and it is this analysis which has allowed us to establish that in this instrument lies the continuity ofhighly important elements characteristic of the emblema tic staff (vara-insignia) which symbolizes the religious and political authority ofthe leaders ofthis ethnic group. The author has worked infive field seasons with this ethnic group: February of1985, October of1987, November ofl993, AugustSeptember of 1995 and July-August of 1996. | |
