| dc.description | Este artículo se propone el rescate del discurso del paciente de los olvidos de la semiótica clásica. Tomando como punto de partida la conocida distinción en medicina entre signos físicos (síntomas objetivos) y síntomas (síntomas subjetivos), se analiza cómo en la obra de Saussure, Barthes, Foucault, Peirce y, en menor medida, en la de Eco, el síntoma ha sido relegado a la posición del signo físico. De esta forma se ha generado una naturalización de la aflicción semejante a la que ejerce el modelo biomédico, que limita la atribución de significado exclusivamente a la mirada médica. No obstante, los síntomas no son reductibles a los signos físicos (que están “para” alguien), pues constituyen narrativas (que además están “por” alguien). Rescatar al sujeto discursivo del síntoma es también crear nuevas condiciones de posibilidad para una semiótica y una antropología de las aflicciones. | |
| dc.description | This article develops an argument for recovering patient narratives from their erasure in classical semiotics. Taking as its point of departure the wellknown medical distinction between physical signs (objective symptoms) and symptoms (subjective symptoms), it analyzes how the symptom has been relegated to the status of physical sign in the work of de Saussure, Barthes, Foucault, Peirce and, to a lesser extent, Eco. This has led semiotics to reproduce the biomedical naturalization of affliction, which is the product of the attribution of significance by the medical gaze. Nevertheless, symptoms are not reducible to physical signs; they are embedded in meaningful narratives. Rescuing the discursive subject of the symptom creates an epistemological shift in semiotics and in the anthropology of affliction. | |
