dc.descriptionLas cartografías son instrumentos de poder. La crítica a esta situación no puede permanecer restringida dentro de los límites disciplinarios de la cartografía o de la geografía puesto que en no pocos contextos actuales alcanza una dimensión política clara. Me refiero en particular a los reclamos por la restitución de tierras por parte de las comunidades indígenas. Este es el caso de la Comunidad de Antofalla, Catamarca, que recientemente inició el reclamo por la posesión de sus tierras ancestrales. En este contexto las cartografías como forma de representación de tales territorios posee el peculiar lugar de intermediar en tales reclamos. En este trabajo mostraré las tensiones entre la representación cartográfica y la apropiación indígena de la tierra en el área de Antofalla. Comenzaré con una breve descripción de las representaciones cartográficas desde tiempos de la colonia hasta la actualidad. Ello me permitirá repasar los intereses cambiantes que agentes exteriores a la Puna tuvieron sobre ese territorio y mostrar la manera en que se fue configurando el conflicto a través del tiempo. En segundo lugar describiré la forma en que el territorio indígena es construido en las actividades cotidianas y los motivos de su invisibilidad en la representación cartográfica. Finalmente discutiré la autoridad del documento cartográfico, su carácter performativo y las posibilidades de una cartografía indígena.
dc.descriptionCartographies are instruments of power. Critique can not remain restrained by the disciplinary limits of cartography or geography given that in many actual contexts a clear political dimension exists. In particular, reference can be made to the claims for land restitution by indigenous communities. This is the case of Antofalla community, Catamarca, which recently initiated a claim for possession of their ancestral territories. In this context, cartographies as ways of representating these territories occupy the peculiar position of acting as intermediaries in such claims. In this paper, the tensions between cartographic representation and the indigenous appropriation of land in the area of Antofalla are presented. A brief description of cartographic representations from the colonial period to the present enables a review of the changing interests that have held sway over this territory by agents external to the Puna, and will also show the way in which the confl ict has been confi gured through time. Subsequently, the ways in which the indigenous territory is built on everyday activities and the consequent reasons for its invisibility in cartographic representations are described. Finally, the authority of the cartographic document is discussed, as well as its performative character and the possibilities of an indigenous cartography.
