dc.descriptionEste trabajo tiene como objeto valorar los aportes de las investigaciones realizadas por Salvador Canals Frau sobre las lenguas huarpes millcayac y allentiac. Para esto, se analizan tres artículos de Canals Frau (1940, 1941, 1942) en los que se tratan diferentes aspectos sobre las lenguas huarpes, basados en el vocabulario de la lengua allentiac y parte de la Doctrina Cristiana en lengua millcayac elaborados por el jesuita Luis de Valdivia, cuya obra escrita en estos dos idiomas fue impresa en el año 1607. Además, se abordan estudios actuales que tratan las lenguas descritas por el misionero y se entregan antecedentes del hallazgo reciente de una copia original de los libros de Valdivia. La metodología utilizada es la propia de la historiografía lingüística, específicamente lo referido a la lingüística misionera. En las reflexiones finales, se repara en la importancia que tiene la obra de Valdivia (1607) como único vestigio de las lenguas cuyanas en el siglo XVI, y en la relevancia del trabajo de Canals Frau para la valoración de las lenguas millcayac y allentiac en la provincia de Cuyo.es-ES
dc.descriptionThe aim of this paper is to assess the contributions of the research carried out by Salvador Canals Frau on the Huarpe languages Millcayac and Allentiac. Three articles by Canals Frau (1940, 1941, 1942) are analyzed in which different aspects of the Huarpe languages are treated, based on the vocabulary of the Allentiac language and part of the Christian Doctrine, a work in the Millcayac language by the Jesuit Luis de Valdivia, whose work was written in these two languages and printed in 1607. In addition, studies dealing with the languages described by the missionary are addressed and the background is given of the recent discovery of an original copy of Valdivia's books. The methodology used is that of Linguistic Historiography, specifically, missionary linguistics. In the final reflections, the importance of Valdivia’s (1607) work is stressed, as it is the only vestige of sixteenth-century Cuyo languages. Moreover, we highlight the importance of the work of Canals Frau on the Millcayac and Allentiac languages.en-US
