dc.descriptionThe aim of this paper is to document,through a lexicographic study, the semantic field of textile art performed by Wichí women (the Wichí are an ethnic group of the Gran Chaco whose members speak the Wichí language, of the Matako-Maká family). With this vocabulary, it is intended to enrich the ethnographic studies, which have already been conducted about this institution, to collaborate with the documentation of the Wichí language and, eventually, to provide a resource for the bilingual intercultural education. Firstly, the importance of textile art in the social life of the group is described together with general theoretical choices about the relation between material culture, lexicon and ethnography. Next, both fieldwork and deskwork methodology used for studying the lexicon and for setting up the vocabulary are described. Afterwards, 208 vocabulary entries are presented. The vocabulary consists of names of artefacts and their parts, of raw materials, of periods of the year and gods, as well as technical actions and states of the matter; all of them related to the textile art.en-US
dc.descriptionEl objetivo de este artículo es documentar, mediante un estudio lexicográfico, el campo semántico del arte textil que practican las mujeres wichís (los wichís son un grupo étnico del Gran Chaco cuyos miembros hablan la lengua wichí, de la familia lingüística matako-maká). Con el vocabulario se quiere complementar los estudios etnográficos que se han realizado sobre esta institución, colaborar en la documentación de la lengua wichí y, eventualmente, aportar información de base para la educación intercultural bilingüe. Primero, se señala la importancia del arte textil en la vida social del grupo y se dejan sentadas algunas posiciones teóricas muy generales con respecto a la relación entre cultura material, léxico y etnografía. Luego, se describe la metodología de campo y de escritorio utilizada en el estudio del léxico y en la confección del vocabulario, y se presentan las 208 entradas del vocabulario. El vocabulario reúne nombres de artefactos y de sus partes, de materias primas, de épocas del año y de divinidades, así como también acciones técnicas y estados de la materia, todos ellos relacionados con el arte textil.es-ES
