dc.descriptionThis paper presents the results of an analysis of the lithic technology from two Sierras de Córdoba (Argentina) Late Prehispanic open air sites (ca. 1500-360 BP, Argentina): C. Pun.39 (Punilla Valley) and Puesto La Esquina 1 (Pampa of Olaen). The aims of the study were to recognize the stages of artifact elaboration represented in the sites, as well as the strategies that these societies adopted for the organization of their lithic technology. The results indicate the existence of a technology that combined different strategies, related to the dynamics of occupation and residential mobility employed by these societies, which can be interpreted from the use made of lithic raw materials and design variables of artifacts. The analysis supports the idea that the adoption of agricultural strategies (ca. 1500 BP) was accompanied by an intensification of extractive practices, the development of technologies for hunting and the processing of by-products. In this way, the study of lithic technology allows us to interpret how these societies adjusted their technological behavior to the changing circumstances of the environment, including the availability of raw materials.en-US
dc.descriptionSe presenta el análisis de los conjuntos artefactuales líticos recuperados en dos sitios a cielo abierto del sector central de las Sierras de Córdoba correspondientes al período Prehispánico Tardío (ca. 1500-360 años AP. Argentina): C. Pun.39 (Valle de Punilla) y Puesto La Esquina 1 (Pampa de Olaen). El estudio tuvo como objetivo reconocer las etapas de elaboración de los instrumentos representadas en los sitios, así como las estrategias que estas sociedades adoptaron para la organización de su tecnología lítica. Los resultados indican la existencia de una tecnología que combinó distintas estrategias, vinculadas con la dinámica de ocupación y movilidad residencial empleada por estas sociedades, las cuales pueden interpretarse a partir del uso que se hizo de las materias primas líticas y de las variables de diseño de los artefactos. El análisis apoya la idea de que la adopción de estrategias agrícolas, ca. 1500 años AP., fue acompañada por una intensificación de las prácticas extractivas, el desarrollo de tecnologías para la caza y el procesamiento de sus subproductos. De esta forma, el estudio de la tecnología lítica permite interpretar cómo estas sociedades ajustaron su comportamiento tecnológico a las cambiantes circunstancias del ambiente serrano, incluyendo la disponibilidad de materias primas.es-ES
