dc.descriptionEn la provincia de San Luis, la ‘cuestión indígena’ fue incorporada en la agenda estatal mediante una serie de políticas e iniciativas que comienzan a ponerse en marcha en el 2006. A partir del trabajo de campo etnográfico realizado en la Comunidad huarpe de Guanacache, analizo en este artículo los efectos que han tenido las políticas de reconocimiento indígena en la provincia. Centro la atención en los alcances e implicancias resultantes del proceso de “autonomía municipal” en el seno de la Comunidad. En este sentido, mi propósito es indagar en qué consiste esa presunta autonomía que se les confiere en tanto municipio, ¿qué implicó constituirse como tal?, ¿cómo se efectiviza el status de autonomía?, ¿cómo se ejerce?, ¿se trata de un autogobierno?
dc.descriptionIn the province of San Luis, the ‘indigenous issue’ was introduced in the State’s agenda through a series of public policies that began in 2006. In this article, I employ my ethnography at the Huarpe Community from Guanacache to analyse the effects of the policies of indigenous recognition in San Luis. I focus on the scope and implications of the process of ‘municipal autonomy’ for the Community. My aim is to inquire in the proper meaning of this alleged autonomy: what does it imply for the Community?; how is it that such a status is asserted?; how is it exerted?; is it equivalent to a selfgovernment?
