dc.descriptionThis paper describes a collaborative work experience between an archaeologist, a museum curator and a representative of the Selk'nam people of Tierra del Fuego, in the joint development of museological content about the past and present of the Native Peoples of Tierra del Fuego. The survey and analysis of a small collection of 15 Fuegian ethnographic artifacts gathered by the German zoologist Otto Bürger in 1903 and kept at the Institute of Ethnology of Göttingen (Germany) was the beginning of this joint proposal. The inclusion of a handmade basket produced by one of the authors, Selk'nam artisan and ancestral educator, in the future exhibition of this Fuegian collection, aims to present and demonstrate the cultural continuity of the basketry practice and the cultural continuity of the Selk'nam people as a living people-nation. Through this experience, we propose to think over the role of ethnographic museums and the need to review their practices in light of the incorporation of the Source Communities of the objects that these institutions protect and exhibit. We therefore propose that this collaborative work experience demonstrates that there are promising strategies to enrich museological exhibitions through the production of new narratives about the past, the present and the heritage of the Native Peoples, which include the voices of the people themselves.en-US
dc.descriptionEste trabajo relata una experiencia de trabajo colaborativo entre una arqueóloga, un curador de museo y una referente del pueblo Selk´nam de Tierra del Fuego, en el desarrollo conjunto de contenidos museológicos sobre el pasado y presente de los Pueblos Originarios de Tierra del Fuego. El relevamiento y análisis de una pequeña colección de 15 artefactos etnográficos fueguinos reunidos por el zoólogo alemán Otto Bürger en 1903 y resguardada en el Instituto de Etnología de Göttingen (Alemania) fue el inicio de esta propuesta conjunta. La inclusión de una cesta artesanal producida por una de las autoras, artesana y educadora ancestral Selk´nam, en la futura exhibición de esta colección fueguina, pretende presentar y demostrar la continuidad cultural de la práctica de la cestería y la continuidad cultural del pueblo Selk´nam como un pueblo-nación vivo. A través de esta experiencia, nos proponemos reflexionar acerca del rol de los museos etnográficos y la necesidad de revisar sus prácticas a la luz de la incorporación de las comunidades de origen de los artefactos que estas instituciones resguardan y exhiben. Proponemos entonces que esta experiencia de trabajo colaborativo demuestra que existen estrategias prometedoras para enriquecer las exposiciones museológicas a partir de la producción de nuevas narrativas sobre el pasado, el presente y el patrimonio de los Pueblos Originarios, que incluyan las voces de los propios pueblos.es-ES
