dc.descriptionThis study carried out in Extremo (Portugal) has four objectives: to characterize its fortified landscape from an archaeological point of view, to enhance the cultural value of this landscape, to initiate a heritage process, and to test a model of cultural heritage governance. This process saw the joint intervention of a research structure, a municipal body, and society at large. Another aim was to test the theoretical and methodological models that have been used in other parts of the Galician–Portuguese border and to confirm the effectiveness of a participatory governance process here. The joint work resulted in the construction of a cultural heritage identity based on elements of an essential part of Portugal’s history, which used audio-visual resources and community participation. The results help understand how heritage processes contribute to the construction of collective identities.en-US
dc.descriptionSe presenta un estudio desarrollado en Extremo (Portugal) que tuvo cuatro objetivos: caracterizar su paisaje fortificado desde la arqueología, poner en valor este paisaje, iniciar un proceso de patrimonialización, y ensayar un modelo de gobernanza patrimonial. En el proceso intervinieron conjuntamente una estructura de investigación, una entidad municipal y la sociedad civil. Se pretendía también testar los modelos teórico-metodológicos con los que se había trabajado en otras partes de la frontera gallego-portuguesa y comprobar la validez aquí de un proceso de gobernanza participativa.  Del trabajo conjunto resultó la construcción de una identidad patrimonial basada en elementos de un pasado clave en la historia de Portugal, empleando para ello un recurso audiovisual participado con la comunidad. Los resultados ayudan a entender qué aportan los procesos de patrimonialización en la construcción de identidades colectivas.es-ES
